The 2016 election catalyzed the growing distrust in news and how we get it. Before Twitter, Facebook, and Reddit, a popular way for people to get their news was through RSS aggregators. It was a time before people were fed content through uncontrolled, evil algorithms.

I believe that the current sentiment of distrust and the recent growth in email newsletters are indicators that people are ready to get back to a more trustworthy, more direct-from-the-source method of consuming the news.

The Epoch news reader is a modern take on the RSS reader that aggregates news from your favorite sources, whether the content is traditional RSS, email newsletter, or podcast. By default, it’s always chronological, can be fully customized by the user, and allows people to take back control over how they consume their content.

This is a personal project still in progress.
